New Deal Nu-Med

Kartesia invests €32m in healthcare group Nu-Med, its first investment in Poland

Kartesia, the European specialist provider of capital solutions for small and mid-sized companies, is pleased to announce a €32m investment in healthcare company Nu-Med Group (“Nu-Med” or “the Company”). This is Kartesia’s first direct investment in Poland.

Headquartered in Elblag, Poland, Nu-Med is the leading private operator of oncology centres in Poland. The company is majority-owned by Enterprise Investors, one of the largest private equity firms in Central and Eastern Europe. Through its 4 hospitals and 8 outpatient clinics located outside major cities of Poland, Nu-Med provides both cancer diagnostics and cancer treatments, including chemotherapy and radiotherapy, to almost 20,000 patients every year.

Kartesia has invested €32m in the Company from its KCO IV & V funds. The proceeds will be used to refinance all existing financial debt and support Nu-Med in its continuing growth efforts.

Paweł Paczkowski, CEO of Nu-Med Group said: “The investment by a strong international financing partner like Kartesia will support us in accelerating our growth strategy and our continuous development of Nu-Med as the leading private oncology services provider in the country.”

Giuseppe Mirante, Head of DACH Credit Opportunities, added: “Nu-Med provides lifesaving services to thousands of people every year. Patients and their supporting family and friends can access Nu-Med’s facilities in relatively remote regions with sometimes under-developed public medical infrastructure rather than having to endure the extra stress of long commutes to the well-development urban centres. We are very excited to partner up with a regional PE leader like Enterprise Investors in supporting such a vital service provider in the EU’s fifth most populous country.”
