With the end of the year fast approaching, several Kartesia offices have taken the initiative to organize their annual volunteering days.

The London team supported the Children’s Book Project, a charity that works to reduce book poverty and give every child the opportunity to own their own book. Every year, they distribute over 100,000 books to hundreds of schools across London and the South East of England, providing children with the opportunity to grow their love of reading and learning. The charity also runs book donation drives, where they collect books from individuals, companies, and schools, and redistribute them to children who need them. They also work to raise awareness of the importance of reading and books by organizing reading events, book clubs and more.

The team in London was able to help unload donations, sort books, and pack boxes ready to be delivered to the schools and young people that need them. Thanks to their efforts, the charity was able to distribute over 100,000 books to hundreds of schools across London and the South East.

This year, the Paris office was happy to organize a visit to the AYA department of the Institut Curie that treats adolescents and young adults with cancer paying particular attention to the 15-25 age group. Institut Curie is a public charitable foundation composed of a research centre on cell biology and oncology combined with a state-of-the-art hospital specialised in the treatment of cancer. It has become a pioneer in several new treatments for cancer in recent years and is today a leading centre for the care of teenagers and young adults impacted by cancer. Kartesia has been a financial sponsor since 2020, supporting the program of activities (weekly music and physical exercise workshops, amongst others) offered all year long by the AYA unit to the young patients, allowing them to enjoy social interaction and to participate in fun group activities. It is important that those young patients can take breaks from periods of isolation in their hospital rooms as relief from the day-to-day difficulties of treatment.

The Kartesia team was also delighted to provide a Playstation 5 console for the games room of the AYA department, one of the Christmas wishes for the children and young adults at the Institut Curie.

Kartesia is thankful to have been able to organize the visit but more importantly would like to thank the AYA Team for their continuing hard and meaningful work!
