Kartesia, a leading European specialist provider of financing solutions, is pleased to announce it has provided additional growth capital to support the acquisition of MyDerma by Cosmetique Totale (“the Company” or “Cosmetique”), a portfolio company of Netherlands-based private equity firm BB Capital Investments (“BB Capital”). Kartesia and BB Capital first partnered in 2022 with the aim of providing the necessary financing for Cosmetique to expand its footprint in the European market outside of the Benelux region.

Since its founding in 2004, Cosmetique Totale has grown to become the market leader in the Netherlands in the field of skin and laser therapy. All skin therapists are members of the Dutch Association of Skin Therapists (NVH) and registered in the Quality Register Paramedics (KP). Cosmetique Totale has been a portfolio company of BB Capital since 2020.

MyDerma has locations in major German cities, including Berlin, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Munich and Frankfurt. A total of 50 employees work at the company. The current treatment offer for laser hair removal and skin improvement will be gradually further expanded to the full range of Cosmetique Totale in the coming period, including injectables. MyDerma’s goal, together with Cosmetique Totale, is to grow into the largest player in all German-speaking markets by taking over existing clinics and opening new locations.

The Hague-based investment company BB Capital Investments has had a majority stake in Cosmetique Totale since 2020, which has since doubled the number of fixed and ambulatory treatment locations through strategic acquisitions. With the acquisition of the Belgian Laserontharing.be, the specialist in skin and laser therapy made its first international acquisition in 2022, followed by a part of the French chain Dépil Tech earlier this year in France and Belgium. In the Netherlands, Cosmetique Totale acquired City Clinics in the first half of 2023, expanding its offering to include injectables treatments, including botox and fillers.

Ruben Moen, Associate Director at Kartesia, commented: “We are delighted to support the continued growth of Cosmetique as it announces yet another successful bolt-on acquisition. The addition of MyDerma to the Company allows for the penetration of the German market, which can really benefit from increased professionalisation of the market. We are looking forward to continuing to work with the Cosmetique management and BB Capital to explore further exciting buy-and-build opportunities in a range of European markets.”

Fabian Otto, founder of Cosmetique Totale and Merel Venneman, CEO of Cosmetique Totale Group: “We are pleased to now also enter the German market with the acquisition of MyDerma. In Germany, there is a lot of room to further professionalize the market for cosmedical treatments, as we have successfully done in the Netherlands. By offering high-quality skin and laser treatments, we can help as many people as possible solve skin problems and increase their self-confidence. With personal attention, the best specialists, and in an accessible and uncomplicated way.”
